NORWICH – Three Chenango County candidates threw their support behind Democratic and Working Families Party Candidate Diane DiStefano today. Dan Lamb, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, and State Senate candidates John Orzel and Howard Leib endorsed DiStefano.
Dan Lamb, a former aide to Congressman Maurice Hinchey, is running as a Democrat for the 22nd Congressional District. His race is listed as an “Emerging Race” by the national Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Dan lives near Cortland, New York.
John Orzel is a former Mayor of Whitney Point running against incumbent State Senator Tom Libous. Orzel taught social studies at Whitney Point High School before recently retiring.
Howard Leib is an attorney from Ithaca opposing incumbent State Senator Jim Seward. Leib previously taught at New York University and recently gained coverage from the New York Times by challenging the redistricted lines for the state legislatures.
“I am glad to have the support of Dan Lamb, John Orzel, and Howard Leib. They are an excellent addition to our team,” said DiStefano.
DiStefano answered a call to public service at a young age. She was elected Guilford Town Justice at the age of 23, at the time making her one of the youngest Judges in New York State, and now the only candidate with prior judicial experience. She is currently a partner at the Norwich law office of Vitanza, DiStefano & Dean, LLP and since 2006 has served as an assistant Chenango County public defender. DiStefano resides in Norwich with her husband Aaron and two children. You can learn more about her at www.distefano2012.com and like the campaign on facebook at www.facebook.com/distefano2012.
