GREENE – The Chenango River Theatre, as part of its One Night Stand series, presents New York City comedian Kelly Kinsella’s “When Thoughts Attack” at 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 2 at 991 State Highway 12 in Greene.
Kinsella is a writer, actor and comedian based out of The Cell Theater in the artistic neighborhood of Chelsea in Manhattan. She is a resident artist at The Cell, where her show will run through October, and is making a special trip to the area for her performance at the Chenango River Theatre.
“When Thoughts Attack” is Kinsella’s one-woman comedy act. The show’s tag line: A play about anxiety. Never has the act of ordering lunch been so entertaining.
Her style has been described as unique - in the vein of Lilly Tomlin, David Sedaris and John Leguizamo. Kinsella was one of the original voices to play multiple characters on the popular video game Grand Theft Auto.
NY Times has described Kinsella as “terrific and zany,” and she was named one of the top 20 performers on the New York Stage by Backstage NY. In a review of her work by nytheatre.com, it was said, “She’s just like us, only funnier.”
“When Thoughts Attack” has been described as relatable to those in the audience, as the stories she tells are based on the truth - yet heightened and humorous. She discusses ideas of anxiety and the battles that go on inside her own head.
