NORWICH – After several weeks of pre-viewing candidates, Communities Against Regional Interconnect has picked out its dream team to help battle New York Regional Interconnect Inc.
According to CARI member William Douglass, last Tuesday in Albany the power line opposition group hired Gilberti, Stinziano, Heintz, and Smith PC, a Syracuse-based law firm that specializes in cases dealing with eminent domain.
“They have strong experience in eminent domain cases,” said Douglass, who is also the director of the Upper Delaware Council. “They have a broad background of litigation that they are involved in.”
Representatives from the law firm did not return a phone message left Friday. Their website, www.gilbertilaw.com, states that they provide “legal counsel and services in the area of environmental law and land use,” along with “government relations and legislative services,” and a number of other areas dealing with real estate and corporate law.
“They are impressive in terms of their credentials,” said CARI and STOP NYRI co-chair Eve Ann Shwartz, an Earlville resident. “And they are keenly interested taking on this case.”
