NORWICH – County leaders hope they can rely on the trust system to keep people from taking advantage of a temporary tipping fee waiver for flood-related debris at the landfill.
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this week to suspend certain fees due to the recent county-wide flooding and State of Emergency that went into effect June 27. The waiver is for individuals and local commercial haulers and extends through at least July 26.
“We have to use the trust system. I don’t know any other way to do it,” Board Chairman Richard B. Decker told county supervisors Monday. Decker will have the authority to extend waivers for a period through Aug. 14.
