Fair exhibits highlight the great outdoors

NORWICH – Tucked away in the northwest corner of the Chenango County Fairgrounds, just out of reach from the laughter, lights, bells, and whistles that pace the annual fair, fascinating interactions and occurrences of the natural world will be looking to mesmerize and fully engage the swaths of energized fairgoers.

The Chenango County Conservation Exhibit, aimed at promoting outdoor life, safety and responsibility, has lined up a host of local and worldly delights. The week-long exhibit, both fun and educational, hopes to ensure an appreciation for the environment and its safe keeping for and by future generations.

“The club hopes to show the community how fun and important outdoor sports and wildlife can be for the entire family,” said Warren Genung from the Chenango County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, the conservation exhibit’s main sponsor. “We hope to see families come and check out all we have for them. The week is full activities and there will be plenty for everyone to see.”

Eddie Eagle from the National Rifle Association will be walking Tuesday in the parade at 7 p.m., and afterwards will be talking with children and parents about the extreme importance and practices of gun safety.
