GREENE – Greene sophomore Megan McDermott scored her first two varsity goals leading to the Trojans’ shutout win Wednesday.
McDermott tallied 6 1/2 minutes into play on a give-and-go from Shelby Averett. That combination worked its magic in the second half as well. Haley Burns, Jessie Bates, and Autumn Layton added goals for Greene (1-1).
“We worked hard on moving the ball during practice yesterday, and that worked out well for us,” said Greene coach Randy Smith. “We controlled the midfield today and kept it away from their big players.”
Greene plays in the Sherburne-Earlville Tournament Friday.
