WALTON – Walton wiped the luster off of Oxford’s opening-game win over Sidney handing the Blackhawks their first loss Wednesday.

Hector Didinado and Brian Backus tallied for the Warriors to raise the lead to 2-0. Oxford’s Cory Seiler pared the lead in half nailing a penalty kick before Cody Tweedy solidified Walton’s win.

“We’re all going to have an off game, I just didn’t expect all of us to have it at the same time,” said Oxford coach Tim Paden. “Walton brings a good offensive line, and they capitalized on our mistakes today.”

MOHAWK – Sherburne-Earlville avoided a third straight overtime game winning in the final 68 seconds.

Travis Tomaselli’s second goal this season off a give-and-go from Nolan Fuller lifted the Marauders (1-0-2) past the home team. “My nerves were starting to get a little raw; thank goodness we were able to finish,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez.

S-E plays Norwich today at 5 p.m. in Hamilton.
