S-E 6, Canastota 1

CANASTOTA – Kept off the scoreboard the past three games, S-E’s leading scorer last season, Travis Tomaselli, finally had his breakout game.

Limited to four goals over the first eight games, Tomaselli matched that total against Canastota Wednesday. “We changed things up with our alignment, and that freed up Travis from some of his defensive responsibilities in the midfield,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez. “Before he had to beat a lot of people to get to the goal, and he didn’t have to do that as much. The change seemed to work.”

Bill Caton and Matt Mastro added goals for the Marauders, who improved to 4-1 in the Center State Conference (5-2-2 overall). S-E hosts Waterville Friday.

Madison 3, Otselic Valley 2

MADISON – Otselic Valley’s rally came up short Wednesday at Madison in a contest that was about as even statisically as one could be.

Henry Luetters scored what would be the game-winning goal to put his club up 3-1. Landon Rasmussen drew the Vikings to within one goal late in the second half.
