Greene 6, Walton 3
WALTON – Blanked in the first half, Greene’s offense erupted in the second half for six goals in a win at Walton Wednesday.
After trading goals the first 30 minutes of the second half, Haley Burns’ second tally with nine minutes left put the Trojans up for good. Jessie Bates and Autumn Layton added tallies just over a minute apart in the final four minutes – both off Megan McDermott passes.
“We were spectators in the first half, and we had trouble stopping their offense until the final 15 minutes,” said Greene coach Randy Smith. “We passed it better in the second half and had some nice breakaways. We finally broke the net down a little bit.”
Greene (5-3, 7-5) hosts Bainbridge-Guilford Friday.
