NORWICH – The Republican Party headquarters was packed full of people Thursday night for the grand opening of the office. Politicians and their supporters filled the small storefront on South Broad Street, despite the pouring rain and thunder outside.
Chenango County Republican Chair Thomas Morrone welcomed everyone to the event. “This is political season, and we have some real heated races,” he said. Morrone encouraged everyone to vote, even in the case that a candidate was running unopposed. He introduced several of the Republican politicians who were at the headquarters, and gave them each a brief chance to speak.
Assemblyman Gary D. Finch was the first to speak. He kept his comments short, saying, “It’s great to represent the people of Chenango County.” Finch also encouraged everyone to get out and vote. He reminded the crowd about the importance of this year’s congressional race. The race is critical in determining which party will gain control of the house. “We need a good, strong Republican vote. Chenango County has always done that for me,” Finch said.
