NORWICH – Owego finished with four pins over the final four matches to pull away from Norwich on the Tornado’s senior recognition night.

Jarred Quigley started the run at 130 pounds, and Josh Souto (145) finished the 24-point spurt. “It was a pretty close match to that point, and even those (last four) were evenly matched,” said Norwich coach Terry Hagenbuch. “Mike Shalna (130) nearly had a pin, and Eric Muserallo (140) was tied at 5-5.

“We have been giving up about 50 points a match, but tonight was a much better effort out of our kids. The score really wasn’t indicative of the matches.”

Josh Steward won by forfeit at 189 and Shawn Wood (215) added a pin to put the Tornado on the board. Mike Hull (112) grabbed an overtime decision win, while Rick Reihl gained a major decision victory at 125 pounds.

Norwich competes in the STAC Tournament at Johnson City Friday and Saturday.
