Norwich 95, Johnson City 42 (girls)
NORWICH – Sporting its deepest lineup and largest numbers in the program in several years, the Tornado won their season-opening meet Tuesday sweeping Johnson City.
Keegan Edwards led the Tornado boys with four victories, and Norwich won all but five events. The key, said co-head coach Phil Curley, was not giving away points. “If we’re giving any points away, the other team is earning them,” he said. “I felt we had some really good times for early April.”
Katie Benenati also had four wins for Norwich on the girls’ side, and Norwich was more dominant losing just four events overall. Elisha Eddy added three wins and a third-place finish, and Norwich swept first through third in the shot put and 400 meters.
