First of all, for anyone who read my column last week, titled The Birthday Party Competition, I have to admit, we lost. My sister, and of course her baby, won the competition due to unforeseeable circumstances. Our birthday party was canceled on account of a nasty virus and an emergency room visit.

Anyway, our horrible weekend in the ER made me think. For the last month, there have been tons of nasty viruses being passed around from person to person, especially child to child, and I think there is only one possible cause; the crazy fluctuations in the weather. Well, it’s either that or something crazy like mutated viruses escaping from the labs where they were created like something straight out of Stephen King’s Outbreak, but until I see more evidence (i.e. watch the movie again) I’m going to stick with the weather theory.
