Unatego 8, Greene 6
GREENE – Coming off one of its better defensive games, Greene fell into a defensive funk against the Spartans committing a season-high seven errors in a MAC division loss Tuesday.
“Our fielding, which has been so good, really let us down,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We lost our composure for a couple of innings. We got it back, but it was too late. You can’t give a team like Unatego that many extra at-bats.”
Jordan Price, Owen Moss and David Havens had two hits for Unatego. Havens’ two-run double in the fourth inning padded the visitor’s lead to 8-1.
Corey Breck and Nate Whittaker finished with two hits and one RBI for Greene (6-2), who play at Harpursville Thursday. “I told the kids this was just a hiccup and we’ll come back,” Gorton said. “I think the first seven games were more an indicator of the team we have.”
