NORWICH – Fifty to sixty people gathered at the skating facility on Borden Avenue on Saturday afternoon for the second Youth Bureau Skateboarding Tournament.
“We had a pretty good turn out,” said Youth Bureau Director Bob Mason of the roughly 50 people who attended. Mason explained most weren’t there to compete, but several spectators were on hand to watch the seven teenage competitors, ages 13 to 19, show off their best moves.
In the second year of the event, Mason said there were only a few faces he recognized. “There were a few kids there from last year’s tournament, but mostly they were new kids,” Mason said.
