NORWICH – Although site preparation work began well over a year ago, it was beginning to look like promises of a new franchise chain in the Town of Norwich were just rumors. Now it’s finally official: Dunkin’ Donuts is scheduled to break ground soon and open its doors in the coming months.

Coffee and doughnut lovers should be glad to hear the newest Dunkin’ Donuts franchise will be built along Route 12, just south of the City of Norwich. The doughnut franchise, owned by three out-of-area residents, was formally presented to town officials within the last month, said Town of Norwich Planning Board Chair Ted Guinn. “The rumors have been around a lot longer, but representatives contacted us only 30 days ago to schedule time to speak at the meeting,” said Guinn. He said also that this is the preliminary proposal.
