Greene snaps out of early funk

Boys’ Soccer

Greene 4, Walton 2

GREENE – Greene snapped out its early funk to score four unanswered goals and rally to defeat Walton in its opening game Tuesday.

Trent Wood put two goals on the board for the Warriors within the first 20 minutes of the game. Ryan Utter scored the first of his three goals on a penalty to draw Greene within one goal at the 32 1/2-minute mark. About five minutes later, he scored unassisted to tie the game.

Mark Day put the Trojans ahead for good off a Pat Daniels feed. “I was impressed with what I saw from Walton,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “We did it to ourselves (falling behind) by coming out flat. We had to work back and I thought we pretty much possessed the ball and took control of the game in the second half.”
