Morrisville-Eaton 5, Sherburne-Earlville 1
SHERBURNE — Sherburne-Earlville’s first-half lead crumbled in a hurry in an early-season battle between last year’s top two teams in the Center State Conference.
Morrisville-Eaton scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to erase the Marauders’ one-goal lead. Chelsea Verne had two of her three goals, and Amanda Smith tacked on the third goal at 20:14, less than two minutes after Verne gave her club its first lead of the game. “We stopped doing things I assumed we would do well,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman of the second half. “We stopped moving to the ball and stopped playing as a team.”
Karli Harris had the lone goal of the first half to put her team on top. S-E plays Moravia Friday night in the first round of the S-E Tournament.
