OXFORD – The Oxford Rod & Gun Club hosted the 2nd Annual Sportsman’s Weekend Sept. 22-23. Sports enthusiasts came to the Ingraham Road Club for the 3-D archery shoot, an all-you-can-eat breakfast and/or lunch, several prizes, raffles, vendors, displays and archery games. There was a lot to see and do such as some fun new novelty archery shoots to test your skill and interesting exhibits.
Coot Connelly of Coot’s Cutlery, Norwich, brought about 1/8 of his incredible collection of knives for display. He has one of the largest knife collections on the east coast. Coot also professionally sharpened knives throughout the weekend brought in by visitors.
Warren & Ruth Smith of Chenango Taxidermy, Preston, had some of their finest mounts on display. They had examples of internal forms and were happy to explain the entire taxidermy process. They mount animals as small as a chipmunk to as big as a bear.
Tim Law of CNY Power Sports of Cortland had an ATV right inside the Club for visitors to get a close-up view and even have a seat.
