G-MU 6, Roxbury 4

COPES CORNERS – G-MU regrouped after a poor first half to score five unanswered goals and win its third straight game.

Coming off back-to-back shutouts, the Raiders’ (6-8-1) recent run of success looked like it might be short-lived as they trailed 4-1 at halftime. “I was kind of disappointed by our first-half effort,” said G-MU coach Mark Luettger. “They must have listened to what I said (at halftime).”

Alex Schmidt cut the three-goal deficit to two, and junior Cody Hall scored three straight goals, the last for the lead at 21:03. Tim Sloan added an insurance goal with 16 minutes remaining. “We had a lot better effort to the ball and won more loose balls in the second half,” Luettger said. “And we didn’t make the same defensive mistakes.”
