OXFORD – Growing up in Chenango County, Dustin Warburton probably saw a lot of “Strange Things.”
That’s the title of his new book of horror stories, making its local debut here this weekend. Warburton, who now lives in Vermont, is returning to his Chenango County roots this weekend with illustrator, friend and fellow native Nathan Gorman to promote the release of their second collaboration, “Strange Things.”
Warburton and Gorman will visit their alma mater, Oxford Academy, today to talk to students about the art of writing, illustrating – and pursuing their dreams. “I got published my senior year in high school,” Warburton remembers. “I was kind of unfocused, but a lot of people, teachers included, helped me realize I was a writer.” Of today’s in-school talks with students, Warburton says he hopes to “show kids they can accomplish anything they want.”
