On Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Michael Waters and firefighter Tracy Chawgo volunteered their time to help paint the igloo panels that will make up Santa’s cottage. Gary Brightman, Burrell Excavating and the Norwich Career Firefighters are working in collaboration with the BID on the project. The cottage will be placed in Norwich’s East Side Park. According to Pegi LoPresti, executive director of the BID, Santa’s cottage should be complete by the end of the week. Santa will appear in the cottage for the first time after the Festival of Lights parade on Saturday, Nov. 24. Although the cottage will soon be complete, the BID still needs the support of the local community to pay for the project. Donations can be sent to Norwich BID, P.O. Box 1127, Norwich, NY 13815.
