NORWICH – The Nor’Easter that was expected to slam Chenango County with up to a foot of snow over the weekend, dumped significantly less than was originally anticipated. Although a wintery storm did drop between five to eight inches of snow on parts of Chenango County, the one to two feet that some meteorologists predicted were happily not seen this weekend.

On Friday, Jones had explained that if warm air moved into the area, the accumulation could take the form of sleet or freezing rain instead of snow. “That’s exactly what happened,” Jones explained, saying that if Sunday’s rain and sleet had taken the form of snow, there would have been a lot more accumulation.

“What happened, was that it kind of turned into two storms. One Saturday night, and one Sunday night. We picked up a moderate amount of snow, but nothing major,” Jones explained.
