NORWICH – Norwich Dodge nearly staged one of the big upsets of the season in the YMCA Men’s Corporate Basketball league dropping a 47-46 final to Haddad Construction Thursday evening.

Matt Farrell drove to the basket and drew a foul with 2.7 seconds remaining. He hit both free throws to give his club the one-point lead. Norwich Dodge was unable to get a shot off in the remaining time.

Farrell had all 10 of his points in the second half to lead his club’s comeback effort. Jaret Paul paced Haddad with 13 points and Rich O’Hara netted 10.

Baldwin and Associates, playing without leading scorer Eric Poiesz, overcame Manpower/Evening Sun’s 11-0 start to the game to remain unbeaten on the season.

Down most of the way, Chris Maynard’s three ball with just over eight minutes remaining gave Baldwin its first lead of the game. Pat Flanagan and Jim Oliver had baskets for Baldwin to answer a three ball from M/ES’s Brandon Foulds and put Baldwin in front for keeps.

Josh Morris scored 13 points in the second half for Baldwin and led his club with 16 points. Maynard added 14 markers and Flanagan had 13.

Foulds and Daryl Decker scored 13 points apiece for Manpower/Evening Sun, while Pat Newell chipped in with 11 points.
