NORWICH – The Chenango County fairgrounds will be booming with excitement today as the fourth annual Fireworks over the Fairgrounds gets underway.
Terry Potter from Millennia Entertainment, The Place and the Norwich Career Firefighters have joined forces for an array of exciting activities. Potter said the preparation for today was extensive, but he is sure it will turn out to be a lot of fun for all who attend.
The events will get kicked off at noon today and will go well into this evening. Admission is $5 per person ages seven and up. Children under seven are admitted free.
Fireworks over the Fairgrounds, as in years past, offers food, a midway and live entertainment. This year, Potter says they’ve brought back staples that were long a part of the Independence Day celebrations. “We brought back hot air balloons. They were traditionally always part of the 4th of July celebrations,” he said.
For youth, the “Family Fun Zone,” according to The Place Executive Director Dave Sheldon, will offer fun activities that children will be sure to enjoy.
Characters such as Strawberry Shortcake, the Berenstain Bears, Franklin the Turtle and Winnie the Pooh will entertain, as will as arts and crafts activities sponsored by community organizations.
