MacIntosh is also the county’s airport administrator. Evans said another reason for the transition was the need for MacIntosh to spend more time overseeing grant implementation at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport.

Evans request was to fill a previously created, but thus far not budgeted position. Chenango County’s property tax services have fallen under the guidance of the Treasurer’s Department for the past nine years. It is a stand alone department in most other counties in the state.

Evans made his request at a meeting of the Finance Committee July 3. The committee discussed the need to fill the position by year’s end. A motion was made and seconded to referthe matter to Personnel in order to create the department, set salary and begin a search for candidates. The new director would manage a staff of four.
