ALBANY – One of the area’s most notorious murder trials will soon get a replay in Chenango County Court after a state court decided not to move the case elsewhere.
On Thursday, the New York State Appellate Division denied a motion filed Aug. 19 by the defense in the Peter M. Wlasiuk murder retrial to move the proceedings out of Chenango County.
The court, which overturned the original murder conviction two years ago on Aug. 31, 2006, decided Thursday that if Wlasiuk is to have his trial moved, it will have to be after attorneys have exhausted Chenango County’s jury pool.
Wlasiuk’s attorney, Randel Scharf, could not be reached for comment.
