Every letter that my father wrote … all … all had about them an empurpled intensity… a flair … an escalation of objects and events out of the mundane and into the celestial.
Dear Shelly,
It was good to talk to you last nite and learn about your mail and general responses. It would be wise if you made copies in duplicate of the various correspondence that you undertake and that you write to different people and publications. It is further evident that the field of economics and business operation is in some one or more aspects tied to the subject of journalism. By writing your thoughts, criticism, developing ideas consistently and general reflections, you may be able to have the substance for a small book or series of pamphlets. Keep some kind of a file for your correspondence and general work.
Be careful as you ride around on the motorcycle – Don’t take any chances.
Now a few words about the freedom from toil and labor we have compared to our ancestors. They had to plough the soil – sow the seed – reap and bind the sheaves – thresh, and grind and sift the wheat and flour – knead and bake the dough and then at last ate the bread.
