NORWICH – The Cyclones’ “A” team stopped the previously undefeated Holland Patent Golden Knights 29-8 here Sunday at Alumni Field.

Kyle Edwards opened the Cyclones’ scoring on the game’s third play on a 56-yard sweep around Holland Patents six-foot-2 Chadley  Franko racing to the endzone. Ba’sheim Jenkins had an outstanding block on Franko  to set up the Edwards touchdown. A Michael Sutton pass to Edwards was good for the point-after conversion (P.A.T.).  Sutton added an 18-yard run for a touchdown, and an 18-yard conversion pass to Edwards after a penalty, still in the first quarter.

Sutton and Edwards teamed up again on a 41-yard TD pass play in the second with Jaden MacRabie kicking the two-point conversion for a 22-0 halftime lead.

Edwards finished the Cyclones’ scoring early in the third quarter on a 55-yard return of an interception, with MacRabie running for the conversion. Graydon Murphy and Marcus Dodd had  an outstanding day rushing. Robbie Wheeler and Jordan Lockwood held the Golden Knights’ offense in check. Adding to the defense were Matt Murray, Michael Oralls, and Storm Cook, who led a fine goal-line stand in the second quarter, stopping the Knights at the one. Bradley Chawgo had a riveting open-field, touchdown-saving tackle in the fourth quarter on speedster  Roderick Stevens of the Knights.
