OXFORD – Thieves who broke into the Oxford Memorial Library Wednesday night got very little for their troubles.
Bypassing expensive computer equipment, the thieves removed the ‘wishing well’ where donations are left for the library’s building project.
Library Director Nancy Wilcox, who notified police of the break-in, estimated that there was between $20-30 in the well at the time of the theft.
Wilcox said she noticed her office window was open while parking her car on Thursday morning. “I walked across the parking lot just far enough to ascertain that the screen had been cut,” said the library director. She then used another entrance to call police.
