SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Dancer Christina Jensen of South New Berlin will appear in the dance troupe of this holiday season’s Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show in Nashville.
The Radio City Rockettes have become not only a fixture in New York, but a Nashville tradition as the troupe makes its seventh annual appearance. The troupe will help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry House’s “A Country Christmas” show.
Jensen, 22, is a teacher and choreographer at the Amber Perkins School of the Arts in Norwich and Vestal. She graduated in May from the University of the Arts in Center City, Philadelphia where she received degrees in dance and performance arts. She said she auditioned for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular just one week after graduation.
The audition was “unlike any audition I’ve every done,” the Unadilla Valley High School graduate said. While standing in line in New York City for two hours prior to a 10 a.m. audition, Jensen confessed that she didn’t think she had a chance.
“There were hundred and hundreds of girls. I feel privileged and honored to have been selected part of the troupe,” she said. “This is the biggest show I’ve been involved in that is most known by people outside of the dance world.”
