GREENE – Greene won its second straight meet, and can claim some Chenango County bragging rights after knocking off local rival Norwich in a non-league meet Tuesday night.

The Trojans started with a new school record, and racked up depth points to prevail.

Patrick Kelsey, George Flanagan, Logan Mowatt, and Jaclob Owens won the 200 medley relay in 1;51.83 to set the school mark. “We knew we were close to the medley record, and kept saying to ourselves we would swim a 1:51,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “That’s exactly what they swam, and it set the tone for the meet.”

Kelsey added wins in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Dan Wenzel won three total firsts for Norwich including the 200 individual medley (2:14.27) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.00). “Coach (Jon) Aikins does a fantastic job with Norwich, but we just had too many swimmers,” Platta said.

Greene is at Sherburne-Earlville today.
