OXFORD – Sidney junior Dani Gravel scored on a breakaway layup with 43 seconds remaining to break a 41-41 tie and give Sidney a victory at Oxford Wednesday.
Gravel was instrumental in the Warriors’ big third quarter that gave the visiting club a six-point lead. She hit two three-pointers over the last 90 seconds of the stanza, and had 10 of her team’s 14 points. “Gravel is probably an all-league type of player, and her points swung the momentum their way,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Oxford closed a 39-31 gap in the fourth quarter getting two buckets apiece from Haley Witchella and Chantel Crandall, along with a basket from Chelsea Farrell. Witchella had 19 points to lead the Blackhawks.
