GREENE – Chenango Forks spoiled what was nearly a dramatic comeback victory for Greene.
Patrick Creagh stuck a three-pointer in the face of two Greene defenders with 1.5 seconds left to provide the one-point margin of victory in the Trojans’ holiday tournament.
The Trojans, unbeaten entering the game, made up a 45-41 deficit over the final 90 seconds. Brendan Kinne hit two free throws to put Greene up one point, and Dan Carlin sunk the front end of a one-and-one to raise the lead to two points. “We hit some key free throws to give us an opportunity to win, we just were not able to get one more defensive stop,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske.
Scott Gorton had 16 points to lead Greene, and Carlin added 15. Dustin Turner finished with seven blocked shots and six rebounds. Turner and Gorton were named all-tournament selections.
