NORWICH – Local celebrities are dusting off their cookie sheets, tying on their aprons and stepping up to their batter bowls in support of The Children’s Center.
Among those baking up a storm for the good cause are NYS Senator Thomas Libous, Norwich City Police Chief Joe Angelino, Chenango County Court Justice Howard Sullivan, Norwich Mayor Joe Maiurano and a host of other business and community leaders.
The results of their efforts will be auctioned of at the center’s Cookies and Cream fundraiser, to be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Norwich Fire Station. All proceeds will benefit the organization’s scholarship fund.
“The Children’s Center is vital to working families,” explained Campaign Chair Martha Brower-Ryan. “[The Scholarship Fund] helps offset the cost of child care for families with financial needs, which now comprises 52 percent of all the children served by the center.”
