CHENANGO COUNTY – The coming week will bring a wave of spring-like weather, with temperatures reaching the 40s and 50s, and Chenango County could see the potential for minor flooding in some areas.
Today through Friday, warmer than usual temperatures will cause snow to melt and create significant runoff, according to Emergency Management Officer A. Wesley Jones. “We have the potential for minor flooding of some streams and creeks,” Jones said, “however we won’t have enough precipitation to cause a serious problem.” Jones explained that significant rainfall is generally needed to trigger a serious flooding event.
