SHERBURNE – After some debate about the best way to proceed, Sherburne’s ambulance committee will recommend that the village move forward with a municipal based revenue recovery system.

Since late summer, the Village of Sherburne has been discussing ways of collecting revenue for their ambulance service. In the past, the department has had trouble retaining certified members, and they looked at revenue recovery as a possible solution to their problems. With a revenue recovery system, the department hopes they will eventually be able to earn enough money to employ some part-time help for the daytime hours, when volunteers have the hardest time responding.

The village has been debating the best way to proceed with a revenue recovery system, looking at either a municipal based system or a separate not-for-profit based system. An ambulance committee was formed in January, and on Tuesday night, the committee decided to recommend the municipal system.

“The committee overwhelmingly supports the municipal based system,” said Village Mayor William Acee. At the next Village Board meeting, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, the committee will make their recommendation to the board.
