NORWICH – On Wednesday the Norwich City School District’s music department will hold their 10th annual Music in our Schools Month Concert. Music in our Schools Day originated in New York on March 14, 1973. This year will mark the 36th anniversary of the national recognition of the vital role of music in the educational program for all persons. Music in our Schools Month will be celebrated in schools and communities throughout the country with concerts such as this.
Due to the remodeling of the NHS gymnasium, we have approximately 50% fewer seats for the performance. Therefore there is a new format starting with the concert this year. This years’ concert will showcase all of the instrumental ensembles in the district, featuring the bands and orchestras from 5th through 12th grade. Next years’ program will include all of the district’s choirs and performances by students in general music classes as well.
