NORWICH – For the third year, the City of Norwich plans to administer a sidewalk replacement program for homeowners, which would get them new sidewalks at a discounted rate.
During the March meeting of the Common Council, city alderman discussed plans for this year’s program. The aldermen are currently getting lists of property owners who may be interested in having their sidewalks replaced. New sidewalks, made of concrete, will be installed by the Department of Public Works. Homeowners will pay the cost of materials and some of the expense for additional DPW summer help; however the city picks up the cost for the full-time DPW employees and the equipment used.
