3:30 p.m. Friday at 706 County Route 10a in the Town of Preston. Preston Fire Chief Kris Bartle reported that the home owner was attempting a controlled burn by himself without an adequate water source available and that the fire grew out of hand. The fire burned more than two acres of open field before crews quelled the flames. Bartle said home owners had a right to perform controlled burns on their property for agricultural reasons but said, “there is a right way and a wrong way. This is the wrong way.”..
