Norwich 14, Whitney Point 0

NORWICH – Senior Timmy Clark threw the first no-hitter for Norwich dating back at least 25 years as the Tornado won it second game of the season in a rout of visiting Whitney Point Monday.

Clark started 17 Golden Eagles batters with strikes finishing with 15 strikeouts, three walks, while using just 87 pitches in his preeminent varsity effort.

“He was getting out in front of hitters and his curveball was dropping in beautifully,” said Norwich coach John Martinson of Clark, who also credited catcher Thomas Kalicicki. “The kids played relaxed and error-free baseball. It was nice to see the pitching and defense go hand-in-hand today.”

Clark went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple with three RBI and four RBI to bolster a standout day. Christian Hotaling, who missed the last four games with an injury, had two hits and four RBI from the designated hitter’s slot.

Norwich (2-7) hosts Windsor Wednesday.

SHERBURNE – S-E made it six straight victories – all in Center State Conference play – riding the strong pitching of senior lefty Caleb Brown Monday.

Brown allowed four hits in a complete-game victory striking out 12 Canastota batters.
