Hancock halts G-MU’s winning streak

COPES CORNERS – Hancock stopped G-MU’s six-game winning streak getting a five-hit shutout from pitcher Derek Keesler.

The Raiders (8-3) had runners on third base in three separate innings, and even had runners on second and third with no outs in the fourth. “We didn’t come up with the big hit,” summed up G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “We had a strikeout or they made a nice play.”

A throwing error in the fourth allowed Hancock’s Cody Satkowski to score the first run. Travis Drake’s RBI double in the sixth added insurance.

G-MU senior pitcher Cody Hall was the hard-luck loser. He allowed just three hits striking out a season-high 14 and walking two. “Cody was spectacular, especially coming off just a couple days of rest,” said G-MU coach Jm Johnson. “He was just so on and felt strong. There was no reason to take him out.”

G-MU hosts Worcester today.
