Norwich 12, Oneonta 9

ONEONTA – Norwich ended a seven-year winless drought against Oneonta Wednesday night as Mike Moon earned a clutch save to support winning pitcher Tim Clark.

Moon entered the game with one out, the bases loaded, and three Oneonta runs already on the board. He struck out the next OHS batter and induced a pop out to end the game. “Moon really came through with senior leadership at the end,” said Norwich coach John Martinson, whose club celebrated the victory with a meal at Brooks Chicken. “This was a big win.”

Richie Bonney was 2-for-2 with three RBI and a solo home run to left field. Moon, Christian Hotaling, and Paddy Law all and two RBI apiece, and Clark was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Clark pitched six innings to win his third straight decision.

“We were more relaxed at the plate tongiht and we seemed to have a greater sense of confidence,” Martinson said. “We need to cut down on our fielding errors, but I was pleased with the resiliency we showed in the seventh inning.”

Norwich (4-9) hosts Whitney Point Friday.
