NORWICH – An Afton teen has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him after prosecutors claimed he was responsible for an alcohol-related car accident that killed one of his teenage passengers.

Seventeen-year-old Trebor E. Hoxie was the driver in an April 18 accident in Bainbridge which took the life of an 18-year-old Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton girl. Three other teenagers were injured in the one-car crash.

A Chenango County grand jury indicted Hoxie in May on 12 criminal counts, nine of them felonies, including a top count of aggravated vehicular homicide – a Class B felony carrying a sentence of up to 25 years in state prison.

“At this time your honor, on behalf of Trebor, we’d enter a plea of not guilty to each and every count listed in the grand jury’s indictment,” said Public Defender Alan E. Gordon in Chenango County Court Monday.

District Attorney Joseph A. McBride requested that Hoxie’s license be surrendered. Gordon informed Supreme Court Justice Kevin M. Dowd that his client did not possess a valid New York State Driver’s license at the time of the incident and had only his learner’s permit, which was surrendered to the court.

Following the plea, McBride also requested that Hoxie remain incarcerated at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
