NORTH NORWICH – Chenango County will be looking up this Saturday as vintage, military, jet and commercial aircraft take to the skies as part of the 19th annual Airport Days at Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport.
The event has morphed from an aviation showcase into an aviation showplace with static displays, aircraft demonstrations and rides plus - new this year - the onsite participation of about 30 community and public service agencies.
The day starts early, at 7 a.m., with breakfast provided by a team from the Boy Scouts of America and the arrival of aircraft and other general aviation. According to the airport’s general manager, Jamie Baciuska of Gama Aviation, Inc., jets on display will include a Citation II Corporate jet, a de Havilland Vampire, a BAC Strikemaster, a Fouga Jet, and two Casa jet aircraft.
The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1204 will have at least three aircraft providing free rides for children under the age of 18. Registration for the Young Eagles flights begins at 8 a.m. Participants must have a parent or legal guardian with them to complete the paperwork.
