GREENE – In a joint investigation, the Greene Police Department and the New York State Troopers Computer Crimes Unit raided a home in the village and seized a man suspected of trafficking in child pornography.
Police executed a search warrant at the residence of John M. Gavazzi, 46, of 21 south Chenango St. Thursday morning and charged him with possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance of a child, both felonies.
Officers seized several pieces of digital media, including Gavazzi’s computer, disks and camera.
Greene Police Chief Steven Dutcher said the investigation took months and he credited the technical arm of the state police as being instrumental in the operation.
