EDITOR’S NOTE: The Bricks & Mortar Report provides updates on major construction projects in Chenango County.

Chenango County Historical Society museum:

• Funding is building for the estimated $200,000 second phase of the Chenango County Historical Society and Museum. A gala celebrating the completion of phase one and honoring the late James S. Flanagan, Esq., former Norwich lawyer and founder of the society, is planned for July 18.

• The building at 43 Rexford will become the James S. Flanagan Research Center. It will house the county historian’s office plus historical materials and photos from the Society and the Norwich Pharamacal Museum’s archival collection.

• “We’re looking at moving into this phase of the project pretty quickly,” said Diane Hamblin, interim director. The Society recently received an anonymous pledge for a new, wireless computer system for the museum’s newly completed executive offices, she said.
