NORWICH – Five adults and one child were injured Sunday in a two-car collision which closed State Rt. 12 between Wal-Mart/Lower Ravine Road and the Halfway House Bridge for nearly an hour as emergency crews worked to free occupants from the wreckage.
New York State Police investigators at the scene said their initial findings indicated that a Blue 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling north along Rt. 12 at around 3:15 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, it veered to the right, drifting across the shoulder and striking the side of a stopped black Buick LeSabre as it prepared to exit the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Kingdom Hall parking lot.
Emergency crews at the scene said the three occupants in the LeSabre suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the LeSabre, Brian Conant, 41, of Norwich, was airlifted to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Binghamton in “grave condition,” by the Guthrie helicopter, crews reported. The other two passengers in that vehicle, 49-year old Teresa Conant and 67-year old Iris Delgado, also of Norwich, were rushed to Wilson by ambulance with “serious injuries” police said.
