NORWICH – Construction is now underway on all three of the City of Norwich properties being built as part of the Restore NY program.
While money for the Restore NY grant program was awarded in January of 2007, construction of the three homes that will be built as part of the project just began a month ago. Since January of 2007, the city has worked to demolish the original homes located at 23 Grove Ave., 52 Fair St. and 7 Waite St.
The Restore NY program provided the City of Norwich with $300,000 for the demolition of three condemned properties and the construction of new residences on those sites. According to the program description, “the goal of Restore NY is to revitalize urban centers. It is anticipated that upon completion, the projects funded by Restore NY grants will attract individuals, families, industry and commercial enterprises to the municipality.”
