NORWICH – The Chenango County grand jury met Wednesday and handed up several indictments. At the proceedings, the District Attorney’s Office presents evidence against those they wish to prosecute as a felon and the jury decides if there is enough reasonable cause to charge a person.
This week, the jury indicted nine people, many of them involving co-conspirators in their alleged crimes.
Alleged co-conspirators Aaron R. Galbraith and Ralph I. Cummings, 24, of Greene, were both indicted for two counts of third degree burglary, a D class felony, and two counts of misdemeanor petit larceny.
The jury accuses the two of entering a storage building along Savory Lane in the Town of Greene and stealing an aluminum row boat, two fishing poles and tackle on July 27.
Tabitha M. Eccleston was indicted for her alleged role in stealing $10,385 from her employer, NBT Bank in Norwich, along with another unnamed co-conspirator who was not listed in the indictment.
The indictment claimed the two stole cash over several months between January 2008 and March 2009. The document also accuses Eccleston of impeding investigators’ efforts to recover the lost money. She was indicted for third degree grand larceny, a D class felony, along with third and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
